This year, Northwest Community Credit Union turned 70!
To celebrate NWCU turning 70, we’re sharing 70 Days of Giving with our communities! We’ll be spreading the love across our footprint by donating and volunteering from late September to early December.
We’ll add more details as they happen, so watch this space!
Keeping Kids Warm
Our Grants Pass team donated new sets of gloves and beanies to Southern Oregon Head Start preschool.
Treats for First Responders
Our Member Solutions team visited the Eugene Police Department with breakfast treats (for both human and K-9 officers)!
Snacks for Students
Our Eugene branch donated snacks to Kalapuya High School for the teachers and students.
Heartfelt House Delivery
Our Executive Leadership Team delivered several wagons full of stuffed animals, blankets, books, and games to the Heartfelt House in Springfield, which provides lodging and amenities to patients and families during treatment.
Supporting Local Pups
Our Member Connect team donated pet food and supplies to Pro Bone O, Lane County's only non-profit dedicated to providing free veterinary care, food, and supplies for pets in need. Our Facilities department also donated puppy food to Lucky Paws Rescue for 34 incoming pups!
Recognizing a Job Well Done
Our Springfield team delivered some treats and gift cards to the janitorial team at Agnes Stuart Middle School to show them how much they matter.
Filling the Pantry
Our Portland team donated groceries to the Park Rose Middle SUN Community School's Pantry, which opens to the whole community!
Our Roseburg teams shopped for gifts and wrapped for about 1,800 children in Douglas County to help Christmas for Kids of Douglas County.
Coffees On Us
Our Medford branch paid for Outsider Coffee customers to have a warm treat!
Our Roseburg branch also teamed up with Riverblendz coffee on December to give free coffee to their first 100 customers on a chilly December morning!
Pies for First Responders
Our Albany branch brought pies to the Albany firehouse today for first responders working through the holiday weekend.
Helping a New Non-Profit
Lane County Diaper Bank started earlier this year to provide free diapers to low-income families with children in Lane County. Our downtown Eugene branch donated several boxes of diapers!
Pajama Drive for CASA of Linn County
Our Albany branch is holding a pajama drive in their lobby, donating warm pajamas to children in foster care in collaboration with CASA of Linn County.
Guy Lee Elementary's Food Pantry
Our Mortgage team donated food to Guy Lee Elementary's Food Pantry, which helps students and their families.
Oregon City School District's Clothes Closet
Our Oregon City branch chose to support the Oregon City School District's Clothes Closet, which supports clothing, school supplies, and other essential items to kids in need. The team bought clothing, jackets, hats, and gloves to keep kids warm this winter.
Keeping Away the Cold
We delivered new thermal gloves, socks, and other winter apparel to two different Egan Warming Center sites, which ensure that unhoused people have shelter during extremely cold weather. Our Business Services team also delivered 20 new rain ponchoes to the Eugene Mission.
Winston's Teen Center
Our Green District branch manager learned that the Winston Teen Center was in need of a new convection oven, which helps them prepare food for everything from the daily afterschool meals program to helping teens learn how to cook themselves.
SMART Reading Program
Our Technology Services department built and donated a bookshelf for the SMART Reading program at Mt. Vernon Elementary School in Springfield. They have a record number of readers this year and needed more shelf space for books so the kids could spend their time reading one on one with volunteers rather than waiting for books.
Warming Hands and Hearts
The Medford branch team put together and distributed packages of hand warmers, wool socks, and dog food packets for those in need and their hungry pups.
Extra Life Gaming Fundraiser
On November 2, we participated in the Extra Life gaming fundraiser! Several members of our Technology Services team played video games to raise money for the local Children's Miracle Network's local hospital (PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend) in Springfield. Our gamers raised $1,295!
First Responder's Day
To celebrate First Responder’s Day on October 28, our Cottage Grove team delivered cookies to their local police department and fire station. Thank you for all your hard work, first responders!
Josephine County Foundation Vision Clinic
Our Grants Pass team sponsored the 2019 Vision Clinic on October 26 put on by the Josephine County Foundation. We helped them provide 124 people with a free eye exam and much-needed glasses!
Financial Reality Fair at Career Exploration Expo
We sponsored Elevate Lane County’s Career Exploration Expo on October 24, which saw more than 1,700 Lane County seventh- and eighth-grade students! NWCU also put on a Financial Reality Fair for the students, teaching them about financial survival skills like building good credit and saving or managing money.
Lunch at Tiffany's
On October 3, credit unions and Eugene-area businesses came together for the Lunch at Tiffany’s fundraiser. Proceeds support our local Children’s Miracle Network hospital, PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend. We challenged the audience to contribute by sponsoring a $5,000 matching donation. With our help, the Lunch at Tiffany’s event raised $192,000 for Children’s Miracle Network. Every dollar goes to help kids like Owen, pictured here with his dad at the event.
Welcoming The Daily Bagel
We kicked off October by partnering with The Daily Bagel, located in our Eugene Support Center! We sponsored $10 gift cards for the first 20 customers on October 1. It was a great way to welcome students in the neighborhood back to school!
Hop to Hop
On September 28, a group of 20 NWCU employees raised money and participated in the 2019 Hop to Hop 10k to raise funds for breast cancer!
We contributed to the cause by sponsoring the event and covering the registration cost for all employees! Our donation went towards helping fund groundbreaking cancer research, patient care programs, and much more. The NWCU team brought in $600, and Hop to Hop raised over $13,000 this year!
