MAYOR WILLIAMS TO ATTEND GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION FOR NORTHWEST COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION BRANCH AT COTTAGE GROVE HIGH SCHOOL
Not-for-profit bank will be the credit union’s third in-school branch
WHAT: Northwest Community Credit Union (NWCU) is celebrating the grand opening of its new student banking branch at Cottage Grove High School with a ceremony featuring Cottage Grove Mayor Gary Williams and City Manager Richard Meyers. Also in attendance will be NWCU President Helen Byrnes, Cottage Grove High School Principal Donn Pollard, the students who will be staffing the new bank branch, and representatives from the Cottage Grove Chamber of Commerce who will facilitate a ribbon cutting ceremony.
Staffed by student tellers under the supervision of an NWCU employee, the Cottage Grove High School branch will provide students with hands-on experience in the field of financial services. Students using the branch will be able to open checking and saving accounts and have their own debit and credit cards. Students also will learn money management skills that will better prepare them for life after graduation.
The Cottage Grove High School branch is the third in-school branch opened by NWCU. The other in-school branches are located at Willamette High School in Eugene, Ore., and Thurston High School in Springfield, Ore.
