Northwest Community News and Events for 2008
Events and announcements for:
June 2008--Some checks did not clear until May 10 or May 31
On March 18 and April 6, Northwest Community Credit Union
did not receive files from the Federal Reserve. These files are part of a continual
electronic process that occurs throughout America (where stores, businesses and banks
exchange and transmit written checks that have been digitally scanned).
On Saturday, May 10, 2008, we processed the missing file
from April 6. On Saturday, May 31, we processed the missing file from March 18. There
were about 5,000 checks that may have been written between early March and early April.
All of the checks have a posting date of 5/10/08 or 5/31/08 regardless of when they were
actually written, but are effective dated according to when the Federal Reserve received
the information.
The delay in processing means that some check numbers will
show as check number “0” (zero) and you will not be able to access images of those checks.
We were unable to recover check images from the May 10 posting but we can order a copy of
check images if they have a posting date of 5/31/08. We sincerely apologize for any
inconvenience caused by the delay and the resulting missing details. Unfortunately, this
could not be avoided.
Answers to frequent questions:

account?

Question: What if I think a check has not yet been
posted to my account?

think your check has not cleared, you may want to contact the person or company to which
you wrote the check and make sure they have received it.
Question: Did the person or company I wrote the check
to get the money?
Answer: Yes.
Question: Did the person or company I wrote the check
to get the money on time?
Answer: They should have. This delay in posting was only when it cleared your
account.

Answer: We were not able to recover check images for the May 10 posting, but we
were able to recover check images from the May 31 posting. You can order copies
of check images for the checks posted on May 31.
