Northwest Community Credit Union Switch Kit
It's the help you need to make switching easy.
Welcome to Northwest Community Credit Union! If you've changed financial institutions
before, you'll understand that it's not easy to know where to start or keep track of the
steps. That's why we've developed the Northwest Community Credit Union Switch Kit, a
step-by-step checklist to help you simplify the transition.
- Open your Northwest Community Credit Union checking account.
Compare our checking accounts online or by
visiting a Branch.
Click here for more information about joining.
- Stop actively using your former account.
As soon as possible, you should stop writing checks, initiating payments, and using
your ATM card or Check Card from your former checking account. To help you with the
next few steps, fill out a payment worksheet.
- Switch your direct deposit.
Notify your employer or other source that deposits funds into your old account that you
would like to switch financial institutions. To set up direct deposit, you will need:
- Locate your new Northwest Community Credit Union account and routing number
- Determine whether your source needs you to fill out a specific form. For
instance, Social
Security requires that you fill out their own form instead of the one we provide on
our website.
- Complete a Direct Deposit Request
Form
- Mail your completed Direct Deposit Request Form to your employer or institution's
address.
- Switch your automatic payments and transfers.
Businesses like utilities or insurance providers will let you automatically pay your
bill each month by transferring the payment directly out of your checking or savings
account. Other companies might let you use your debit card to automatically pay your
bill. You will want to make sure these companies have your new information.
- Switch payments that are automatically debited from your debit card.
Call these companies or log in to their websites to change your debit card
information. Be sure to have your Northwest Community Credit Union debit card
handy.
- Switch payments that are automatically debited directly from your
checking or savings account.
Complete and mail an Automatic Payments/Transfers Form to us.
- Close your former financial institution account.
Make sure all outstanding checks and debits have cleared before closing your old
account. Contact your former financial institution for instructions on closing your
account. Once you are certain the account can be safely closed, here is a
Account Termination Form you can fill out and mail to
your former financial institution.
