April 2006--Join the effort to preserve our fire service history.
The mission of the Oregon Fire Museum, Memorial & Learning Center is to identify,
collect, preserve, interpret, and disseminate materials and information pertaining to
Oregon's fire service history. This will help Oregonians understand and appreciate the
innovation, dedication, bravery, and heroic sacrifice of firefighters throughout our
history.
Right now, the museum is raising funds to
construct a permanent facility in Brooks, Oregon. This building will represent an
early 1900's fire station, including a replica apparatus bay with equipment, living
quarters, chief's office, Gamewell alarm system and interactive fire education displays.
In addition, this building will archive and display historical photographs, records and
memorabilia.
Here's an image of the Phase Two construction project, which the museum board hopes to
have built in Brooks by 2010.
